Ruth Lavinia Beaver

~~Ruth Lavinia Beaver (Ward) – January 4, 1918 - October 28, 2017

Ruth passed away peacefully in her sleep in the Grand View Manor in Berwick.  She was born in North Alton, Kings Co., Nova Scotia.
Ruth was predeceased by all of her immediate family.  Father Rufus Ward; mother Lalia Ward (Chase); husband Forest Beaver and her common-law companion Alden Hudgins; brothers Theodore, Kenneth and Chester; sisters Gertrude Johnson, Nellie Chinney and Mildred Harvey; niece Doreen Kinsman.

Ruthie enjoyed telling stories about the many anticsher and her siblings got into as children. She worked hard all of her life and was employed for a number of years at the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville.  Again, she would share numberous adventures she and her friends had while working at the hospital.

Ruthie loved to cook and she loved children.  Many children in Margaretsville were loved and cared for by this big hearted woman.  A favorite passtime of her’s was playing cards, especially forty-fives where she was known to pick the pack if not watched closely.  Ruthie was fun loving, kind, generous and compassionate.  She was always up for a good joke or a prank, just ask the caregivers on the Chase Unit in the Grand View Manor.

Ruth will be sadly missed by her niece Trudy (Barry) Ward and her nephew Beverly Ward.  Also, by her niece June West (Beaver) and Arthur.  She will be missed by her fun loving nephews Leonard and Gerald Beaver.  Ruth will be sadly missed by her niece Mary Schreoder (Hudgins), nephews Joe, Micheal (Michelle) and Aaron.  Ruth will always be missed by Kendra Watson (Little), Jim, Kayley (Matt) Campbell and Mackenzie.

We would like to thank the amazing staff on the Chase Unit at Grand View Manor for making Ruthie a “home”.  She was loved and cared for as if she was their only patient.  Ruthie would want you to know that she loved each and every one of you.  Ruth and I, Kendra, want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Cremation has taken place and at Ruth’s request there will be no visitation and a private graveside service will be held on November 20, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Family Flowers only. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (902-679-2822).
