Obituary of Herbert Cheeseman

Passed away peacefully on December 29th surrounded by family, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, NS. Born January 2nd, 1903, he was five days short of his 105th birthday. He spent Christmas at his granddaughter's home, surrounded by family. Predeceased by his wife Dorothy, brothers Harold & Will, and sisters Dorothy & Laura, he is survived by sons Hugh & Graham, daughter Maureen, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Herbert was a member of the Royal Army Service Corps between the two Great Wars, serving in Ireland, India and Persia. He, Dorothy & Maureen immigrated to Canada in 1947, living in Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia. To his family and friends, he was the salt of the earth. Sadly, the world has lost some of its flavouring. Visitation for Mr. Cheeseman will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday January 4, 2008 in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 5 Leverett Avenue, Kentville (902-678-2151) from where a funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 5, 2008 with Rev. Arnold Bouter officiating. Burial will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only please, however, donations in memory may be made to The Gideon Bible Society.
