Obituary of Mark Hartt

Please share a memory of Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Mark Hartt, age 43 on February 27, 2017 in Halifax. Mark was known for his intellect, razor sharp wit and unique humor. He was always quick with a comeback and seldom at a loss for words. He has left us an invaluable legacy of stories, jokes and classic Markcisms. By his own words he was a committed life-long learner and had to his credit multiple courses, certificates and diplomas. His latest academic achievement was receiving his BA (Hons) in Security Consultancy. He made his career in the security industry working for several years at MSVU and was most recently employed by Northeastern Protection Services, working together with university security at SMU. In 2010 Mark made a life changing career choice when he accepted a teaching position with College of the North Atlantic at their campus in Doha, Qatar. The four years he lived there were filled with challenging career opportunities that he thrived on and time to travel which he loved to do. His time abroad also gave him a new family. A group of colleagues and friends that he cared for deeply, spoke of often and held in high esteem. His Doha family held a celebration of his life on Saturday, March 11, 2017. Mark is survived by his great aunt Abbey Crossley; aunt Dorothy Hartt; great aunt Mamie Coffill; half siblings Jeff (Anne) Hartt and Angela (Jeff) Hawbolt. He was predeceased by his parents Basil and Donna (Lake) Hartt; maternal grandparents Norman and Mary (Sandford) Lake; beloved uncle Delbert Caldwell; paternal grandparents Earl and Lillian (Bezanson) Hartt and aunt Geraldine Hartt. This is just a few lines on paper, but Mark was so much more. We all need to keep remembering him with a light heart and a smile on our face. There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Mark's Life will be held on April 8, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Windsor Legion (upstairs hall) Branch #9, 35 Empire Lane, Windsor, NS. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the NS Heart & Stroke Foundation or charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (902-679-2822).
