Obituary of Mary Louise Brewster

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Louise Brewster, born January 23, 1928 in Hantsport, NS, passed away on April 3, 2017, at the Hants Community Hospital with her family by her side. She lived most of her life in Hantsport, where she was very active in her community. She was a dedicated member of the United Church and belonged to many groups and sang in the choir. She also volunteered for the town, filling the bus every year for the annual trip to the International Tattoo. She belonged to the Red Hatters, and was on the senior games committee, which was held every Spring. She also resided in River Denys, Cape Breton, for 27 years and was also active in that community, receiving volunteer of the year, of which she was very proud. She moved back to Hantsport in 1996 and lived in Jubilee Court for over 20 years, in which time she arranged musical entertainment to come in monthly, and the annual Christmas party as long as she was able to do so. She lived an active, fulfilling life, she did it her way. She was productive to any and all areas of her life. Being a people person, very sociable, she was known and liked by many, young and old. Her friends were from far and wide and she kept in contact with them all. She loved the Saturday night jamboree and had a reserved seat. She was always in possession of a joke to share, and will be sadly missed by her family and friends, of which she had many. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila (John) Rafuse, sons John and James Brewster, granddaughters, Lisa Rafuse, Zoe Brewster, Kate Brewster and great grandchildren, Shylaine, John, Sydney and Aubree. Sisters Lillian Milton, Shirley Jackson, Julia Badgeley, Phyllis Clements, Jerri Brothers and brother, Alan Mitchell. Family friends, Jane Davis and Kerri Brewster. Louise was predeceased by grandson Ronald Strader and brother Douglas Mitchell. A heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff and doctors at the Hants Community Hospital. "Mother was a person that could make a life long friend in a by chance meeting at a bus stop, train station or just walking down a road." Celebration of life to take place on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church, Hantsport, NS. Also, visitation with family members to be held in the lounge at Jubilee Court for shared memories and condolences, April 11, 2017 from 6:30 until 8:30. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Victoria Order of Nurses, Heart & Stroke Foundation or Avon United Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (902-679-2822).
