It is with deep regret that we announce the death on Saturday May 13, 2017 of our mother Luella Amelia Marshall, 74 of Digby Nova Scotia. Mom passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of the Halifax Victoria General hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Luella was born in Digby and lived most of her life in Clementsport and the Digby area. She was the eldest daughter of Lloyd and Thelma (Delaney) Hicks. She was educated in the Digby school system and at the Nova Scotia Teacher's College in Truro. Luella taught elementary education in the Digby and Annapolis school systems and was much loved by her students. Her stories of the children and their antics were some of her favorites, bringing smiles and laughter to all who listened to them. Luella loved her family and friends, was involved in Girl Guides of Canada as a Commissioner, was a multi-published genealogist, enjoyed crafting, gardening, reading and time at the family cottages on Porters Lake. Her dogs were always a large part of her life and ranged from Japanese Chin to most recently her great Airedale and Welsh Terriers, as well as the beloved cat. She is survived by three daughters and one son; Chantelle Marshall of Elmsdale, Brenda Lombard and Dorothy Stevenson of Digby and Trevor Marshall of Victoria, B.C.; four grandchildren Marie Letemplier and Crystal Rowe, Jasmine and Jacob Marshall as well as her many loving great grandchildren and close friends. Luella was predeceased by her husband, Robert, two brothers Dudley and Richard, and her sister Linda Baxter (Hicks). Memorial service will be held at South Range Christian Church, 3901 Sissiboo Rd, South Range, NS. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Kidney Foundation, South Range Christian Church or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (902-679-2822).
