Ruby Blanche Atwell, 92 of Gaspereau Mountain passed away January 19, 2018 in Shannex Blomidon Court. Born in Black River, she was the daughter of the late James Leslie and Ida Mae (Schofield) Ells. Ruby was a wonderful mother, not only to her own children, but she became the mother to all the neighborhood children. The home became the hang-out spot for all the kids. She was well known for her baking, knitting and blanket creations that she gave freely without expecting anything in return. Ruby will be always remembered for her kindness and was a good friend to all who knew her. She is survived by her sons Richard (Shannon) Atwell of Hall's Harbour; Mitchell (Mary-Jo) Atwell of Strathmore, AB; brother Morris (Gertie) Ells of Black River; grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Ruby was predeceased by her loving husband Victor Leslie Atwell; sisters Hazel (Hartley) Smith and Phyllis (Gerald) Henderson. A Funeral Service will be held on January 26, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Wolfville Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to a Charity of One's Choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Wolfville Funeral Chapel, 568 Main Street Wolfville (902-542-4656). The family would like to give thanks to the Shannex Blomidon Court Staff for the beautiful care they have given to our mother.
