Obituary of Charles "Chuck" Gerald Rogers

Charles “Chuck” Gerald Rogers, 62 of Hantsport  passed away at work on September 15, 2018.  Born in Wolfville at the Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital on April 4, 1956, he was the son of the late Clayton and Jean (Harris) Rogers.  Chuck was raised in the Canning area.

He was a truck driver for the majority of his life, going to work at the age of 16.  His driving career took him from Jodrey and Pulsifer to Polestar then Armour.  In November of 1982, he was sent by Armour to work mainly in Hantsport shunting trailers in CKF and Minas Basin mill yards until September 15, 2018.

Chuck loved to read and was a lover of sports, especially baseball, and everyone knew he loved the Toronto Blue Jays.  He was a kind and gentle man, who loved his family dearly and adored his grandsons.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Beatrice “Beth” (Stevens) Rogers; daughter Tammy (Tim) Zwicker; grandsons Wayne and Jacob Zwicker, all of Hantsport; brothers Stephen (Heather Hudgins) Rogers of Aylesford; Roderick Rogers of Toronto; Andrew (Marlene) Rogers of Berwick; sisters Brenda Harvie of Kentville; Molly (Walter) Frost of Sydney; mother-in-law Alene May (Lockhart) Stevens of Hantsport; sisters-in-law Jean McColl Stevens of East Loon Lake, Guysborough County; Jean (Mike) Bevan of Beaverbank; Sylvia Best of Hantsport several nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; and his best friend, Garth Dunbar.

Besides his parents, Chuck was predeceased by his infant brother Theodore; special uncle Charlie Harris; father-in-law David Palmer Stevens; brothers-in-laws Geoffrey Stevens, William Stevens and David Best; sister-in-law Sandra Dunbar.

Cremation has taken place and a private funeral will be held at a later date. Chuck’s wife, Beth and family would welcome you to a Celebration of Life which will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018, 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Wolfville Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Hantsport Shamrock Baseball Society, C/O Laurie Johnston, Maple Ave, Hantsport, NS, B0P 1P0.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Wolfville Funeral Chapel, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, B4P 1E5 (902-542-4656).
