Please share a memory of E. "Bette" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

After reading mum’s obituary, please leave a memory of how you met mum or a funny little anecdote.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Esther Elizabeth “Bette” Marshall on November 5, 2019 after a short stay under the excellent care of the Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, NS.

Bette, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many was born at home on August 31, 1931 in Berwick, NS. She was the eldest daughter of the late William and Evelyn Bligh.

Bette attended Edgehill school in Windsor with her sister Ruth (predeceased). It was here where she discovered her love of sports. She later attended Queen Elizabeth High School in Halifax, NS. Bette went on to marry Hartley Ralph Marshall of Halifax (predeceased). Bette will be lovingly remembered by her six children known as the “1/2 dozen”, Joyce of Wolfville, her daughter Ginger; Bill (Debra) of Langley, BC, their daughter Vineca; Ralph (Donna) of Calgary, AB, their children Matthew, Bryce and Leanne; Cathie (Dave) of Bracebridge, ON, their children Janean, Andrew and Alex; Ann of Blind Bay, BC, her children Tyler and Breann; Susan (John) of Blind Bay, BC, their children Chiara, Devon and Cody, many great- grandchildren.

Mum was always supportive and loving, sharing her expertise and experiences with her family and friends...most importantly she shared her infectious laugh and the joy of a good water fight. After Hartley passed, she spent many years living with her various children across Canada, returning to Nova Scotia in 2001. Bette was kind and generous with a positive sunny outlook.

She will be forever missed.

Cremation has taken place and in respect of Bette’s wishes there will be no formal service. The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital, Patient Navigator. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
