Obituary of Hazel Edna Sanford

Please share a memory of Hazel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sadness that family and friends announce the passing of Hazel Edna Sanford, at the age of 91, in the R.E.A.L. Residence, Windsor, on March 19, 2020.  Born on October 14, 1928, in Vaughans, she was the daughter of the late John and Sadie (Swinamer) Church.

Hazel enjoyed camping and kept in touch with the many friends she made over the years.  She was employed with Wilcox Hardware for twenty-five years.  During Exhibition time, Hazel could be found working at various exhibits.  Hazel was a wonderful homemaker and a great cook.

Hazel will be remembered for her kind and thoughtful ways and her smile.

She is survived by her sisters Gladys (John) Marshall, New Glasgow, and Joyce Boylan, Wolfville; she also leaves behind three step-children, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friend Pat Wile, who has been Hazel’s support the past few years.

Besides her parents, Hazel was predeceased by her first husband Hutt Rattray (passed in 1969), her second husband Donald Sanford (passed in 2015); brothers Herbert in infancy and Harold; sisters Lillian Wile and Greta Bonnyman; and step-son Laurie Sanford.

Deepest appreciation is extended to Carrie Dauphinee and the staff of the R.E.A.L. Residence for the exceptional care and attention provided to Hazel while she was a resident.  Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Graveside Service will take place on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the Vaughan's United Church Cemetery. Memorial donations, in Hazel’s memory, may be made to the Vaughan United Church, 1800 Hwy. #14, Vaughan, NS, B0N 2T0 or charity of one’s choice.   Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
