Tom was my first Detachment Commander when I came out of training and was posted to Windsor. Despite my young age, language barrier and immaturity at the time, he made me feel welcomed and part of the family. I vividly remember him and Judy hosting the young members – including myself – who didn’t to go home for Christmas, which was much appreciated by all. I had – and still have – nothing but respect not only for S/Sgt Grant but also for Tom the man. My condolences to Judy, the girls and his family and friends. RIP Tom.

Tom and I worked on drug sec Winnipeg together in the 70's . We picked these two guys up smoking dope in the park. Walking back to the car Tom said hey Mike I got my guy your's in running down the street. I can still see the biggest grin on Tom's face. The guy scaled the fence. I tried to scale it but me and the six foot wooden fence came down on the guy. Tom couldn't stop laughing. Judy you and Tom are the best

So sad to read this tribute to one heck of a great guy! My memories are all of "Group" here in North Sydney ... a guy who was so well liked..I met him one more time in the parking lot of the Windsor hospital. I was visiting my Aunt and he was picking up his better half! I heard someone call out Meloney and turned and he said said Tom Grant (in case I wouldn't know him) I said Group??? And after we said see ya...I thought ..still a great guy. My deepest and sincere sympathy to you all. I hope the many happy memories you have(and I am sure there are many) will help ease some of the pain of loss you feel and hopefully the knowledge that he was well liked and respected will help as well. God Bless and May You Rest in Peace ,Group !

Tom was my brother from another mother (and father) for all these years. He was there for me, stood up for me and always there to bounce ideas around to get his sage sound advice.
I had the honoured opportunity to be there for the last week of his life. The outpouring of appreciation for him, simply being who he was to so many people over the years, was astounding and humbling. For one person to enrich so many lives, give of himself to so many and have hundreds and hundreds of people call him 'my friend' is testament to Tom. I told him that he made such a huge impact in life and I hoped he realized what a difference he made in so many people's lives, mine included.
Life won't be the same without Tom Grant but all our lives are the better for knowing him. Thank you Tom, for simply being you.

When Tom and Judy moved onto Kingsview Drive, the value of having an RCMP officer on the street quickly became apparent. The presence of a squad car on the street seemed to eliminate all the late-night “tourists” cruising up and down the street. We also seemed to have regular visits from the salt truck and snowplow if the sky even threatened a flake.
One of my fondest memories of Tom resulted from a snowstorm, or two of them. While my wife Janet and I were enjoying Caribbean sun, Nova Scotia had two fierce March storms. As we were driving through town at 2 AM, looking at banks higher than the car, I was wondering how I would get into my house; let alone get the car of the street. Our driveway was beautifully plowed and the back steps shovelled, courtesy of Tom, the snow elf. When I asked Tom how much it cost, he said the company would bill me; of course, they never did. Tom was a great neighbour who will be sorely missed.

I cannot explain how sad I was to hear of Tom’s illness and now his passing. He was so huge a part of my growing up which I remember with such fondness. Everything that was mentioned in his Obituary was so very true. I had so many laughs in his company that there are too many to list. He was hilarious but never a mean spirit ness ever. He was a beautiful soul who had an uncanny way of being excited and laid back at the same time. After many years of only minimal contact as happens sometimes; I was reunited with him personally and his beautiful family while he served in Yukon. I can attest to the fact he was much loved in the north. Made me proud cuz I see so much racism living here so his positive and caring energy was a welcome experience. We used to gab about home. It was at a hard time in my life so I was thankful for his continued kindness. I will do special ceremony for you; my old friend for your continued journey and for love and peace for your beautiful family and legacy. And thank you….for your service.

Sean and I are so saddened to hear of Tom’s passing. Tom quickly expressed his giving nature to us when we came to visit and meet you for the first time in Nova Scotia. We were so happy that you both could come to our wedding a few years later in Kingston. Sending our deepest condolences. Albeit only a few short meetings, Tom touched our lives. We will miss him dearly.

We are so sad to hear of Tom’s passing. Tom was like a father figure to me during my early exposure to the Force and influenced me more than he would ever know. He was always quick with advice and larger than life.
Our thoughts are with Judy, the girls and their families.
Mark, Wanda, and family.
