Obituary of Neil Scott Trefry
Please share a memory of Neil to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Neil Scott Trefry, 63 of Weymouth passed away on September 30, 2021 in the QEII, Halifax. Born in Digby, he was the son of the late Vernon and Phyllis (Cosman) Trefry.
He was a member of the Weymouth Fire Dept. for 29-years and president for 20 of those years. He was also a member of the Weymouth Church of Christ. Neil’s career was filled with a family-owned water hauling business for 25-years and for 22-years, Neil drove an oil truck for Esso. Just before retiring, he finished his working years with Dugas Auto.
Neil’s family was his life and loved having his children and grandchildren so close to him, but loved spending all his time with his beloved wife Debbie. Together they would go on road trips that did not have any destination, and it did not matter as long as they were together. He enjoyed being at home in his chair, watching The Big Bang Theory, playing solitaire or browsing Kijiji. He relished in the time he spent at the camp with family and friends with plenty of food. He would love to sit back and take it all in.
This past year, Neil got enjoyment from cutting firewood with Russell and Braeden, watching Danny build his camp and going to Pizza Delight with Loretta.
He always put other people first and Neil would be there at the drop of a hat for anyone, especially the grandchildren.
Neil is survived by his loving wife, Debbie (Raymond) Trefry; daughter, Loretta (Thomas); sons, Russell (Victoria) and Danny (C.J.); grandchildren, Braeden, Tayson, Marlee, Layla, Elodie and Ryder, all of Weymouth; siblings, Jane Goodwin of Terrace, BC; George (Shelly) Trefry of North Battleford, SK; Leroy Trefry of Weymouth; and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Neil will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Havelock Wesleyan Church, followed by a Celebration of Life in the Weymouth Fire Hall. Memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, NS B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
