Obituary of Thelma Elizabeth Gehue

With our broken hearts, we are sad to announce the passing of our mom, Thelma “Pat” (Milbury) Gehue, 91 of Bear River, on October 29, 2021.  Born March 1, 1930, she was the daughter of Archie and Hilda (Rice) Milbury of Morganville.

Pat was a homemaker, excellent cook and loved to serve great meals.  When she was younger, the whole downstairs of the family home was decorated at Christmas time, baking galore for family and the company that always came to visit.  She was always busy with some sort of task, and ready to help friends and others in any way possible.  She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and watching ‘Survivor’ with her son, Scott.  She also enjoyed the drives every night with her husband for the past 30 years, until they could no longer do the trips.

We, her children, will cherish all our memories she has given us.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Eddie) Height; sons Gary (Roxanne), Kendall and, Scott, all of Bear River; brothers, Glendon, Donald, Laurie, and David; sister, Edith, all of whom live nearby; sister, Ruby, Medicine Hat, AB; granddaughter, Becky Height Bergeron, Uxbridge, ON; grandson, Blair Height, Calgary, AB; one great-granddaughter, and three great grandsons.

In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Gehue; grandson, Daniel Wagner; six sisters, three brothers, and seven nephews.

Thank you to Janet Ericson, for always being a good friend and someone Mom spoke very well of. Thanks to all the care from second floor at Digby General, also all the home care staff that helped Mom for the last two years at home, and the visits from RN’s and VON’s, also Serenity Funeral Home for their service.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 1:00 pm in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Bear River.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, NS B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
