I just read Shirley's rather yellowed copy of The Odessa File.
I'm sure she would have cared for outgoing troops and naval officers during the war. Perhaps a fling and a few stolen kisses with the charming boys! Our incoming wounded and PTSD victims would have loved, platonically, her sonorous voice. The bells of Amtrim are calling her home. God bless her haggis and sure hands. Cheerio Shirley, we keep the Wiesenthal pariscopes trained on murderous monsters, too many of which are right here, armed with Waffen SS daggers, murdering two wives and several children just this past week here in Peterborough. We'll damn their kindred to hell for you Shirley. Keep an eye on our shinanigans please.

Shirley was my mother-in-law! She excepted me into the family from the moment I met her. She was kind, loving, and generous. She always had a smile on her face and a warm demeanour. I will miss you, Shirley! Both you and my mother shared the same name. I believe fate brought us together for a reason. Rest in Peace until we meet again!

Dear Luanne and Mr. Walton,
I was so sad to hear of Mrs. Waltons passing. I have so many great memories of her and that smile she gave to everyone. Her quick wit and side mouth comments were like no other. She will definitely be remembered by all who knew her. I send my condolences to you both and am thinking of you. I will wear my mittens remembering all the laughs I was fortunate to share with her.

Mr. Walton and Luanne, I remember the first time I ever met Mom Walton, it would have been late 70's, early 80's. She was a ball of spit fire running around, so skinny you could spit through her
She had a knack for always being where most needed. I loved her like a mom. She took that part of our installation ritual that tells a mother advisor that she may need to step in for those who don't have one
The first time was my GWA year when my mom was dying and unwell to attend. She always seemed to be there when I needed a little compassion and love
As an RegN, I can certainly see that she would have been one of the best, that compassion when facing illness is so comforting
After my mom passed I was a mess. I remember during the memorial service at Luanne's sessions crying uncontrollably. Young and lost. Again she comforted me, a time when she should have been caring for Luanne, she was there for me
After Alex joined rainbow, the first grand assembly, I was given a small part in the majority I was so nervous, didn't think I had it in me. But she built up the confidence I didn't know I had and told me she knew I could do it when I succeeded
Later on when we worked together on the Grand Representatives Contest, she tried to insist I call her Shirley
I told her she would always be mom Walton, one of my rainbow mom's. She laughed but knew where I was coming from. At both our ages, when I was with her, I felt 16 again
Mr Walton, I am so sorry for your loss. You were one lucky man because she was an amazing woman
Luanne, thank you for sharing your really special mom with me for all these years
I hope she has found a peace she hasn't known in sometime
