Dear Wayne & family,
We were shocked to learn of Marilyn's passing away last month.
Covid has meant that we have not been getting together as we
did so do not always hear news.
Marilyn was a unique person with an interest in so many things,
all of which she wanted to share with others. We recall how she
would travel the world, then come home to tell us about her trips
through food and entertainment. We recall those evenings with
pleasure and so many other meals where we were welcomed
by Marilyn and by you when you finished work.
She will be missed and remembered by those who knew her and
we send our sympathy to you all.

Wayne & Family. We were so sorry to hear of Marilyn's passing. We always made a point of stopping at M&W restaurant while camping and visited the restaurant a time or two when we stopped camping. She had such a big heart and called 'a spade a spade". She served you a meal and became friends forever. May your precious memories help you through this difficult time.

My sincere condolences to Wayne and family. I will always remember the time I spent with Marilyn. She was a beautiful person who enjoyed life to the fullest, taking each day , both good and bad , without complaining. Marilyn loved her family her home and saw the best in everyone. I have many fond memories of our long walks, visits to Frenchies , bridge games and dinners at her restaurant. You will be missed by all who had the good fortune of being in your presence. May you rest in peace

To Wayne, and all of Marilyn’s family,
I am so very sorry for your loss.
Marilyn was a one of kind and one of the most generous people I have ever met.
She brought me into her circle and your home when I was a warden at Kejimkujik. I felt as welcome with you and Marilyn as I did with my own family.
I loved going with her on her Frenchies runs. It took all day and she filled the trunk with things for other people. She was never not thinking about other people.
I am thinking of you and sending love.

Wayne,Dwayne,Janice,Caitlin,Travis and Family,
We are deeply saddened for your tremendous loss and are sending you our love and prayers during this most difficult time. May your cherished memories bring you moments of comfort.
Marilyn was a very special lady who loved her family dearly. Her generosity and helping hand had no boundaries. She had a remarkable gift of bringing people together leaving us all with our own special memories of her. Marilyn truly enjoyed life to the fullest and you were certain to have a great time in her company. One of my favourite memories and a true testament of Marilyn’s fun loving nature was the night that we went with her and a few of our friends to the theatre in Bridgewater to see “Mamma Mia”. Gerry introduce his mother to ABBA’s music back in the early 80’s when he was a D.J. Channeling his spirit, Marilyn sang her heart out in memory of her beloved Gerry that night. Her fun loving energy was contagious and heartfelt by every songbird in the audience. Row by row everyone chimed in and cheered her on, for she created her own movement in “True Marilyn Fashion” lol…
Marilyn, I will think of you always every time I hear ABBA and you will always hold a special place in our hearts. Gerry, I’m sure that you and your Mamma Mia are making the angels sing.
Warmest Regards,
Greg,Karen,Corry and Sally

I am so sorry for your loss, sending lots of love to you Wayne, and your family.
Marilyn was like a 3rd grandmother to me. Every summer we would visit her at her restaurant or at home, while we were on our Keji vacations. I always looked forward t visiting Marilyn + Wayne + the restaurant, M&W's was my favourite part about going to Keji. She even let me work in her restaurant a few times, (because I wouldn't leave her alone haha) washing dishes and taking orders. Her attitude towards life was always so inspiring to me.
Rest in peace Marilyn xoxo

We want to add our condolences to the long list of people who have shared here. Marilyn was a force to be reckoned with and had the grit that made her a successful business woman. We made the M&W a regular stop on our trips through the woods and left having had a good laugh, often at our own expense. We are very sorry for your loss.

I am truly saddened to hear of Marilyn's passing. Marilyn was a very intelligent, strong, confident, community minded person who certainly loved people and life. She treated everyone equally. People loved visiting the restaurant mainly because of Marilyn. I remember when she was busy making food she would tell customers to get their own coffee behind the counter. It made everyone feel at home. Our lives have all been enriched by knowing such a wonderful lady.

Marilyn, you will be so greatly missed. You had a laugh that carried across the room, your smile was dazzling and your sense of humour topped it all off. Your charm and wit was your gift to the world. People all across the province knew who Marilyn Rowter was and year after year travelled to come see her. Her loyal customers saw her grow from the days of the canteen take-way to the empire she built her dream to become which ended up being one super cute little restaurant, a store, laundry mat, camper storage centre, tube rental and not to forgot Wayne’s wood business. Marilyn was a self made business woman who employed all of Maitland and surrounding communities. To work for Marilyn was both a privilege and a punishment, some days! Ha-Ha! She never took it easy on anyone and made you work your arse off. I know you’re laughing at this Marilyn!! She could have you making an order of fish and chips at noon and by 4pm you were outside painting the foundation of the restaurant or helping her weed in her monster gardens. She taught me, many valuable skills and I appreciate all the life tools she gave me. She had beautiful taste in art and always supported local artists in their journey, as she herself had her own talents in being a master quilter! She was an amazing friend and above all she her loved her family immensely and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Marilyn, Thank You for all the memories and the laughs. Your love and light will live on via your beautiful family. My thoughts are with you all. Love, Corry. Xo
