Dear Karen & James,
Earl & I were deeply saddened to learn of Neil’s recent death. We were two strangers from the States when we arrived for our wedding in Wolfville in 1994. Days before our wedding at St. Francis of Assisi, I bought Earl’s wedding present in Neil’s little shop on Main Street. It was a top-of-the-line compass. Little did we know that that kind and welcoming merchant would become one of our best friends in Wolfville. Our Thanksgiving dinners with the Cloghesys are among our cherished memories. Many thanks to Neil, Karen & James for welcoming us into their home and into their hearts. Sending our deepest sympathies and much love, Diane & Earl

Dear Karen - I was privileged to be there all those years ago to see you and Neil marry. I saw the love and admiration you two had for each other on that day. It is wonderful that your relationship brought you both happiness for almost half a century. Quite an accomplishment. Please accept my sympathies in the loss of a beloved husband. Susan Hawke

When Diane and I landed in Wolfville from California so that she could attend Acadia University, we were blessed to become friends with Nova Scotians such as Neil and Karen who welcomed us to their province and to Canada. We have very special memories of the good life we had there. Thank you Neil and Karen for your friendship that has lasted all these years. Be at peace.

Please accept our heartfelt condolences for the loss of your dearest husband and father....
The sentiments and words that come to mind when thinking of Neil is of a refined, sensitive, and intellectual man. Neil was always a gentle and accepting presence. One felt seen and heard in his presence... from a place of genuineness, kindness and non judgment. Many wonderful memories of times spent together in Montreal (and for Michele...later on in the beloved Nova Scotia). Sending all our love and affection.

You were the brother I never had and the best friend anyone could have. You made me wiser and more appreciative of the times spent with you and Karen and James. I miss our talks, the phone calls, the zany cards you sent. I miss you.
I know you’re at peace now.
