Our condolences to Doris’ family. One of our great memories of Doris was the love of playing her card games. She was so sharp & quite enjoyed beating me every game.
Rest In Peace Doris.

I enjoyed meeting and getting to know Doris a bit. She made me laugh with her dry humour and teasing. She was generous over a cup of tea and shared her love of baseball and Jimmie Rodgers and Charley Pride records. I loved our letters back and forth and I will miss and remember her. What a wonderful photo in this obit.

What a lady! Doris was appreciated for her domestic perfection and for her fabulous cooking skill!!! And Funny! She had such a wonderful sense of humor! Mom (Audrey) and she always kept in touch through the years. We all thoroughly enjoyed what our children used to call our "Doris cookies" (molasses wonders !) We are saddened to hear of her passing--she was gifted with long life. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family for comfort.

Dear Eleanor and Leslie,
I am so sorry to learn of Doris' loss. My deepest sympathy and condolences to you. Doris was a family friend for years, especially to my Aunt Lea, and later, to me. We shared some good times together. She was always pleasant and welcoming when I would drop by. I still remember the Christmas we spent together.
In her quiet, dignified way, she lived a full life, and I pray she is now reaping her reward in heaven.
I will miss her.
Blessings,
Lyn Riley

Dear Eleanor and family: Fran and I send our sympathy to you in the loss of dear Doris... over the years we often visited the homestead when Doris and Frances were there and sometimes Kathleen would be over as well ... they loved to talk about their growing up years here in Avonport, as well as all the places they worked. Doris was always interested in hearing about what was going on in the community and even after she moved to her apartment in Wolfville she kept in touch. She was a quiet but strong woman who was a hard worker. They were the 'salt of the earth' kind of women ... and well respected here in this little community. They are all gone now but the house will still be know as "The Farmer" house to many. I am happy to hear she is going home to Winnipeg with you Eleanor as planned!! We are thinking of you.

To Eleanor and Lesley, our sincere condolences on the loss of Doris. Although we did not know Doris in her younger years, it was a pleasure to get to know her during the past few years. Her quiet strength and sense of humor were endearing. She was kind to everyone she met. We will miss her. Rick and Lynda King
