Obituary of Elizabeth Martha Manthorne
Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With all our love, thankful hearts and deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mom, Elizabeth Martha Manthorne, age 89, on March 22, 2022 - in the Dartmouth General Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Mervin. She leaves behind her daughter and best friend, Elaine Bond, her dearest granddaughter (Honey Bunch), Erin-Leigh Bond (Ben Hill), great granddaughters Charley and Dawsyn; her son Gary Manthorne (Patricia), Joseph (Emma)(Thomas, Ivan, Ava) and Tony (Cristina)(Hazel).
Her legacy in life will be the lives she touched along the way. Filled with a sense of humor, a radiant smile, she was a strong-willed, independent, determined lady - who always put her family and friends first. She was our very own “Martha” who enjoyed baking and cooking, shared with all who opened her door. Her pleasures were keeping busy creating beautiful gardens, sewing, knitting and her many crafts. Her talents were endless. Her most cherished memories were being in the sunshine, walking the beach, searching for shells and sand dollars with her granddaughter, Erin-Leigh. Her motto in life was to never stop trying - you can do anything you put your mind to!
Cremation has taken place. A private committal service will take place at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens at a later date.
It is with great comfort, we acknowledge that Mom’s end of life was peaceful. Family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and LPN’s at the Dartmouth General Hospital 5 East, and the Emergency Department for their compassion, support and heartfelt care.
Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of choice.
