To All of Doug's Family... my heartfelt condolences on the loss of a unique and wonderful man. I had the pleasure of working with Doug at Ambassatours/Absolute Charters and can still picture that dear twinkle in his eyes. He would bring me treats, cookies or flowers to thank me for getting him payment promptly...i would tell him no need that it was my job..he would just smile again and say much appreciated!.....Dougie was always kind, witty and smiling!

My deepest condolences to the Umlah family for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Doug both as a tour guide and as a driver with Ambassatours/Absolute Charters. Doug was my driver for my very first tour as a guide. I will never forget his words when we arrived at our destination at Peggy's Cove....."don't you ever stop talking". Doug was a great driver and a wonderful person to work with over the years. Doug had a great sense of humour, kind, and loved working with people.

My sympathies in the loss of Dougie. I have known him since I was about 12. We had joined the army together and worked together at Moir's Express. We use to double date when I was married to Kathleen. I last saw you both at Babs memorial service on December 09, 2021, it was nice to see you both. Everyone handles grief in their own way there is no right or wrong way, it is what matters to you and your family. Take care of yourself Harriet and each other. I'm glad that I'm in Halifax at this time so that I have the honor of attending Doug's memorial service.

So sorry to hear of Doug's passing. I worked with him at Ambassatours. I was a guide and I always knew I had a safe, courteous, and efficient driver when Doug was behind the wheel. I also knew I would have a few laughs because of Doug's unique sense of humour. He made it a lot of fun. Rest in peace Doug.

RIP Doug, he was one of the very best. A true family man who loved his family talked about them with great pride. When I arrived at the pier and had Doug for a driver I knew I was going to have a perfect day. He made it fun. Love to his family.

So sorry to hear of Doug's passing. We enjoyed working with Doug on the many trips we took with him. He was always a delight to work with. Doug and I had the distinction of being involved in a bus burning incident on the way to Peggy's Cove some 15 years ago. In later years it was quite a laugh. Doug told the story with gusto. We offer our sincere condolences to the family. Rest In Peace my friend...Mun

I hope that the many memories you made with Doug console you at this time of loss.

My sincere condolences to the Umlah family on Doug’s passing. I had the pleasure of working with Doug over several years, as a tour guide for Ambassatours. I always knew when he was my driver, I could have absolute confidence in his professionalism, (even if he silently cursed me from time to time for taking him on some seemingly impossible route!) He will be truly missed.

Oh the memories..he gave me such a hard time as a female bus driver..called me "the witch" from Hicksville..always in jest. We had so many road trips. Always a laugh if he was there. So much knowledge regarding the many workings of a motor coach.I knew it was going to be a good day if he was a part of whatever the job was. At the end of some days he would say Harriet says come for supper... It won't b the same without him. My love to Harriet, HIS ROCK, and his family..RIP my friend..

I am still in shock over this. We missed Doug this morning at the Tuesday coffee but he was there with us. Doug had a great sense of humour and was just a little sarcastic (in a good way) at times. I loved working with Doug and learned so much from him. We had many a good laughs on our road trips to Bingo and other places as well. He will be missed. To Harriet and family I send my deepest condolences. Take comfort from family and friends and in the many great memories you have.
