It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Frank Umlah on Sunday, April 17, 2022 in the Halifax Infirmary Hospital. He was born in Halifax on January 15, 1949. He was the son of the late Douglas and Vera (Mosher) Umlah.

Douglas is survived by his loving wife, Harriet; daughter, Cindy; son Trevor; grandchildren, Nicholas (Jasmine); Sean; Sarah (Ryan); Morgan; great-grandchildren, Ava; William; Katrina; Alexander; and his favorite lap-dog, Banjo; brothers, Wilson (Carol); Donald (Bonita); Wayne; sisters, Jessie; Julie Ann (Richard); several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his Dad and Mom; brothers, Wilson and Wayne; and mother-in-law, Bertha.

Douglas worked at Absolute Charters/Maritime Motor Coach Service Centre as a Motor Coach Driver. Douglas loved to travel and loved his favorite country singer Lorretta Lynn. He also enjoyed his Tuesday coffee dates with his work buddies.

The Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 1-4pm at the Royal Canadian Legion at 45 Sackville Cross Road. Reverend Carol Sue Frison Officiating. Interment to follow at Oakridge Memory Gardens (masks are encouraged). Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke foundation of Canada or a charity of one's choice. Many thanks to Douglas's Doctors and Nurses at the hospital and the many VON who helped with his care. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
