Obituary of Cecil Reginald Sherman

Cecil Reginald Sherman, 83 of New Minas, passed away on January 28, 2025, in the Yarmouth Hospital. Born in Somerset on January 23, 1942, Cecil was the son of the late, Gilbert and Matilda Sherman.

Cecil cared dearly for his community, it showed through his volunteer work with St. Johns Ambulance, The Berwick Fire Department and he was an active member of the Community Watch with The Berwick Police Department. He also spent 38 years working at Larsen’s.

Cecil was an avid sportsman; he spent time umpiring baseball games and was a referee for hockey. He also enjoyed wholesome games of golf, bowling and darts additionally you could find him in the woods during hunting season. Above all Cecil appreciated the time he got to spend with his family.

Cecil will be dearly missed.

Cecil is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Deborah Sherman; daughter, Cherri Sherman; son, Derek Sherman; grand daughter, Charli Miller; grand son, Colin Sherman; great grandchildren, Henry and Margaret Miller, Serena Parker, Oliver and Haisley Sherman and Sheila Clyke; extended family and dear friends, Courtney McLeod, Rebecca Sherman and Jason Wood; 15 siblings as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Cecil was predeceased by his sister, Teresa Atkins and brothers, Leonard and Alex Sherman.

No visitation will take place, Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 198 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS.
