Obituary of Murray Robert Hefler
Murray Robert Hefler of Hantsport passed away peacefully in his home, with his son by his side on February 7, 2025. Born in Halifax on October 11, 1930, he was the son of the late Harry Vivian Hefler and Annie Isabella Drysdale.
Murray was a successful entrepreneur, for many years he owned Hefler Trucking, his business held the Best Motor Carrier License in all of Nova Scotia. After selling his trucking business to Irving Oil, Murray developed and operated two dairy farms in Hantsport, after countless years of being in the dairy industry, Murray sold his dairy farms, moved to Scots Bay where he opened a grocery store. After deciding to move back to Hantsport he sold his store and went on to start a poultry business during this time he housed over 15,000 laying hens, in the 15 years of owning his poultry business, Murray built multiple houses and barns along Ben Jackson Road, you could say he played a big part in the development of Ben Jackson Road. After selling his poultry business, he decided to sell most of his land and barns only keeping two plots, one with a house and one with a mini home, from those two plots of land he went into selling hardwood until he retired at the age of 87. Murray was a creator; he was at the forefront of innovation and always looking for new ways to create value. His time spent here on earth was never taken for granted. Murray will be deeply missed by those who had the opportunity to be a part of his life.
