Obituary of Richard Corkum

Joseph “Richard” Corkum, 82 of Canada Creek passed away on March 12, 2025, in the Valley Regional Hospital. Born in the Forties on December 1, 1942, Richard was the son of the late James and Freda (Morash) Corkum.

From a very early age, Richard knew the meaning of hard work, helping his father in the woods wasn’t always easy but Richard truly cared for his family and wanted to do whatever he could to help out around the house. Richard appreciated the time he spent with his family from spending hours coasting under the moonlight with his sister, Connie and teaching her how to ride a bike, to spending summers playing base ball with Connie and his brother, Gregg. He spent many days playing the guitar, the neighbors would come over just to listen. In his later years, Richard enjoyed working in his vegetable and flower gardens, he took great pride in his work. He spent many years working as a Forman in a fertilizing plant, driving the forklift. He was also a member of the Baptist Church in Black Rock. Richard spent the last his last several years with his beloved companion, Rena Coleman – whom he adored until his last breath. Richard will be greatly missed.

Richard is survived by his companion of 7 years, Rena Coleman; sister, Connie Langille and his brother, Gregg (Eunice) Corkum as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite Corkum and son, Bobby Corkum.
