Obituary of Barbara Jean Mosher

Barb passed away peacefully of natural causes at the age, 92 on March 21, 2025, in the Shannex Blomidon Court in Greenwich NS, with her family standing beside her for her final 5 days. Born on June 4, 1932, in Halifax, Barb was the daughter of the late Herbert and Albertha (West) Kirby.

Barb was a kind and gentle person. She consistently lived her life that way and treated everyone with dignity and respect. Barb had many friends and was active in the community, being a member of the Stairs Memorial Church and Church groups in Dartmouth, throughout her life.

Although Barb has involved in a variety of careers, including Food Marketing, Textile sales and even a stint at Moir’s Chocolates when she was younger, her proudest accomplishment was raising her family, including two sons and a daughter. She made it a priority to instill her values in her children and point them in the right direction for a successful life.  Barb and Gerry were avid travellers and were fond of several places, making multiple trips to the UK, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Florida and Hawaii during their 68 years together (July 11, 1951).

One of Barbs most passionate interests was baking. Her skills in the kitchen were unrivalled and her children are quick to point out, her apple, blueberry and raisin pies, plus apple and blueberry crisp, remain, after all these years, the best they have ever tasted.

Barb is survived by her sister, Betty (Bill) Lynch of Rothesay, NB; children, Craig (Cynthia Allen) Mosher of Halifax, Steve Mosher of Arlington, NS, and Colleen (Patrick) Hairr of Kapolei, Hawaii; grandchildren, Jeff (Kara) Mosher of Ottawa, ON, Sage (John) Dennis of Mascoutah, Illinois, Emily (Joshua) Wiechman of Bolivar, Missouri, Christian (Gabby) Hairr of Oceanside, California, Lauren Hairr of Springfield, Missouri and Briar Mosher of Halifax, NS; great grandchildren, Emily and Liam as well as her niece, Margaret (Brad) Crossley.

In addition to her parents, Barb was predeceased by her loving husband, Gerald William Mosher (December 16, 2017)

The family would like to acknowledge the outstanding care she received while at Shannex Blomidon Court and the help we received during the final days. We would like to suggest that donations can be made to Blomidon Cout in lieu of Flowers.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday March 27, 2025, at 1:00pm in the Orchard Valley United Church, New Minas.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 198 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS. (902) 679-2822.
