Lynda Mae Sheffield Obituary

Lynda Mae Sheffield, 73 of Lockhartville passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, in the Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born in Wolfville on March 7, 1952, she was the daughter of the late William and Jean Woodworth.

For Lynda, family was everything, there was nothing more important. Her three boys were her pride and joy and even after they were grown, her love of taking care of others never faded, she played a very important role in raising her grandchildren and spent many years babysitting out of her home. When she wasn’t taking care of tiny humans, Lynda and her husband, Randy welcomed their 4-legged baby, Butch into their lives for Lynda it was love at first sight from that day on she was never without Butch by her side, even after Lynda moved to Dykeland, Butch’s new family made sure to visit her whenever they had the chance.

Anyone who had the opportunity to meet Lynda, was met with love and compassion and if you were lucky, you would eventually get the chance to taste her delicious homemade bread that she baked and sold for many years. Lynda loved to capture the moment, tuck it away and keep it as a memory, you could often find her with a camera in her hands taking photos of just about anyone or anything that moved.

In November of 1970, Lynda married the love of her life, Randy. The two spent countless years together creating beautiful memories and a lifetime of stories to tell, the two spent many years attending bluegrass festivals and with the encouragement of her granddaughter, Rylee, Lynda joined her husband on stage playing the mandolin and from then on, they were always on the go, bringing joy to anyone that listened, whether it was at a nursing home, a festival the Canada day parade or simply performing for family and friends!

Most of us knew Lynda as a sweet and soft-hearted women, but in her younger years, Lynda could be a bit of a mischief maker, there was a time when her and her sister, Isabel decided to light a little grass fire but when it started to get out of control they called the Fire Department but thankfully by the time they got there the fire was out, needless to say, both girls learned a valuable lesson that day and never lit grass on fire again.

Lynda is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Randy Sheffield; her children, Tony (Barb) Sheffield, Tim Sheffield, and Todd (Mindy) Sheffield; her brother, William Jr. (Audrey); her sister, Isabel (Alan); her grandchildren, Ashley, Brock, Paige, Natalie, Nathan, Keegan, Rylee, Payton and Brooklyn as well as 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Lynda was predeceased by her grandson, Quentin Sheffield.

Cremation has taken place, There will be a small family gathering in honor of Lynda at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
