Obituary of Peter Vawdrey Richards

Peter Vawdrey Richards, age 86, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 7, 2025. Though his passing brought sadness, Peter would be pleased to know his family was comforted by cherished memories of his clever wit and uniquely humorous personality.  Born in Kent, England, Peter was the son of the late Roy and Anne (Gertrude) Richards.

Peter led a full and adventurous life. A well-traveled man who, over the years, had experienced many careers and hobbies. Whether he was tinkering with steam engine machines, working on his Triking, or caring for cattle, Peter approached every endeavor with knowledge and hands-on determination. 

A master of many hats, Peter was always willing to lend a hand to help friends and family. To his dearest, he was nothing short of a living "how-to" manual, able to fix just about anything in their eyes.

Peter was always one to lend a listening ear and up for good conversation- taking pleasure in catching up with life updates, or sharing stories of his vast experiences. He genuinely enjoyed the simple pleasure of having a drink with good company and often expressed his joy when reflecting on those visits, calling them “a good chat”.  Never one to hold back, Peter spoke from a place of care for those close to him, and his playful banter will not be forgotten.

Peter will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 40 years, Rose Richards, his children, Dorinda (Kien T.) Richards and Harvey (Lisa) Richards. He also survived by his grandsons, Zack, Kirk, Colton, and Kent Richards - as well as his beloved brother Bob Richards, wife Penny, and their West Coast family.

As per Peter's wishes, no funeral service was held, and his cremation has been carried out. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS.
