Obituary of Ann Viola Parsons
Ann Viola Parsons (née LeBlanc), 86, of Dartmouth, passed away on August 10, 2025.
Viola, or Vi to all, was born on July 12, 1939, to the late Desiré and Françoise LeBlanc in Abrams River, Nova Scotia.
Vi was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Arthur Parsons. Left to mourn are her daughter, Deanne Parsons, Dartmouth; son, Christopher Parsons, Netherlands; and granddaughter, Sanne Parsons-Sierdsma, Netherlands. She is also survived by several of her siblings and step-siblings, nieces and nephews of the extended LeBlanc family across Canada.
Viola began her early career at the Beford Institue of Oceanography where she met her husband-to-be, Arthur. She stopped work to raise a family but always tried to stay in touch with the "B.I.O. girls". Vi was fortunate to have a wonderful group of friends and family - her 'Friday Night' circle of friends she shared with Arthur and her bridge club were a source of laughs and companionship for decades. She always had fond memories of sailing along the Maritime coast with Arthur and their friends.
Sadly, Arthur passed away in 2023 and the family would like to thank all those dear friends and relatives who stepped in to help care for Vi after Arthur passed. We share Vi's appreciation for all of your collective support in keeping her going these past two years.
At Viola's own request, she wanted to express how thankful she was for the kidney transplants she received. She was the recipient of two transplants, the first in 1990, the second in 2007, and was forever aware of the sacrifices made by those two families, who in the moments of their own grief, gifted her the chance to enjoy her life to the fullest for many more years to follow.
There are no plans for viewing or funeral services, as per Vi's wishes. She will be interred alongside her paternal grandmother in Ste. Anne du Ruisseau, Nova Scotia. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 198 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Colebrook, NS B4R 1B9.
