With deepest sympathy we announce the passing of the beloved Doris Singleton, who passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in the Hants Community Hospital in Windsor. Born in Prescot, England Doris was the daughter of the late Richard and Helen (Hayes) Blesdale.
At Jinlings in England, Doris found more than a workplace – she found John, the man that would hold her heart for 51 beautiful years. On February 27, 1954, they became husband and wife, sharing countless memories that danced through time, their journey of love carried them through decades until March 16, 2005, when Doris had to say her final goodbye to John.
On June 28, 1979, Doris became a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Hantsport where she made lifelong friendships and travelled to many places. Doris was the Noble Brand until Rebekah Lodge closed. Later in life, Doris’ hobbies consisted of Knitting, Crocheting and making sweet bread, she attended craft shows for nearly 40 years.
Doris leaves behind her loving daughter, Kathleen (Gary); daughter in law, Sherry; special daughter, Shawna (Mark) Clarke; grandchildren, Richard (Paula), Cora Lynn (Eneli); great-grandchildren, Noah, Jedidiah, Gabriella and Damien; sisters, Nora (Ron) of Merseyside, England, Edna (Frank) of Isle of Man.; sister-in-law, Rose of Hantsport; brothers-in-law, Erene of Hants Border and Goeff (Faye) of Lockhartville as well as many nieces and nephews in Canada, England and Australia.
In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her beloved husband, John; son, Martin (2017); sister, Doreen; sisters-in-law, Flo and Myrna; brothers-in-law, Albert, Ralph, Harold, Stan and Delbert and her nephew, Keith.
A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 2:00pm in the Christ Church, 543 King Street, Windsor with Father David Curry officiating. A reception will follow in the Hants Border Community Hall. An interment will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to the IWK or a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 198 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS (902) 679-2822.
