Obituary of Joan Marie Halliday

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Marie (Lewis) Halliday, age 84, of Digby, on August 14, 2025. Joan passed peacefully with her family by her side.
Born October 2, 1940, in Waterford, Digby County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Edith (Theriault) Lewis.

Joan was a vibrant and energetic woman, known for her generous spirit and heart-to-heart hugs. She volunteered at the Digby Bargain Bin, where she made many dear friends.

Joan is survived by her daughter Shaunda (Kevin) McCully; grandchildren Kasha (Ryan) Burke, Kalesha (Kyle) Johnston, Austin (Chynna) Halliday, and Douglas Halliday; great-grandchildren, Harlow Burke, Kane Johnston, Wellington Halliday, and Lewis Halliday; and daughter-in-law Helen Halliday.

In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband Wellington Halliday, son Richard Halliday and siblings Hank, Wayne, and Donna.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Borsato, Amanda and Dr. Cooper, and the VON nurses for their care.

At Joan’s request, no service will be held. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Digby Food Bank, or a charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Conway, NS B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
