Obituary of Christine Carol Potter
Friends and family are very saddened at the sudden and unexpected passing of Christine Carol Potter better known as Carol. Carol passed away on Thursday August 14, 2025 in the QE2 hospital in Halifax after a brief illness. Carol was 80 years old the daughter of the late Clyde and Dorothy. (Hubley) Potter of Upper Clements Nova Scotia. She was born on December 11, 1944.
Carol is survived by her son David Cassar of Oakville Ontario and daughter Darla Andrews of Digby Nova Scotia as well as step sons Sam Cassar, Hilsburn, Nova Scotia and John Cassar and step daughters Mary Ann Cassar and Margaret Cassar. She is also survived by three brothers, Rodger Potter Surry BC, Stan Potter Waterdown On, Vince Potter, Mississauga On, and sister Pat DeAdder, Burlington On as well as a number of grandchildren in both Nova Scotia and Ontario.
Carol was predeceased by her parents and a brother Garry Potter.
Carol was born hard of hearing and at a young age was sent away from her family and all that was familiar to her to attend a school for the hearing impaired in Amherst NS. where she learned sign language. Carol made lifelong friends from all over the Maritimes during her school years. Carol was also very adept at reading lips. As a young woman Carol moved to Ontario. She learned to be a seamstress and after a few years moved back to NS. In the early 1970's Carol married Joe Cassar and they raised their six children in Morganville Digby County NS.
Carol studied the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses and decided to dedicate her life to her Heavenly Father Jehovah God, and she was baptized in symbol of her dedication in 1979 in Yarmouth NS. Carol was an active member of the Digby Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for many years. She enjoyed meeting people in the public ministry and sharing her Bible based convictions and the comfort it brought her. She participated in the meetings at the Kingdom Hall even in hospital via Zoom the final week of her life. Carol had very strong faith in the Bible's future promise of a paradise earth where all people will live in peace and perfect health as Jehovah God originally intended and where she looked forward to being able to hear! Carol lived a life of purpose.
She was well known in the community for her friendly, outgoing personality. She will be missed not only by her family but also by her many friends both in the congregation and community at large.
Carol's family and friends would like to thank and express heartfelt gratitude for the paramedics who assisted her in her time of need as well as the doctors and nurses at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital for their excellent care. Also thank you to the doctors and nurses at Halifax's QE2 for their care and the cardiac team who worked so hard to give her a higher quality of life. Your tireless efforts are very much appreciated.
