Obituary of Audrey Myrtle Bent

Audrey Myrtle Bent

April 7, 1930 – August 15, 2025

With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we honor the life of Audrey Myrtle (Clayton) Bent who passed away on August 15, 2025. Born in Hampton, Audrey was the daughter of the late Gordon and Charlotte (Fash) Clayton.

Audrey worked for several years at the Bridgetown Motor Inn where she was known as

“Lil Aud”

Audrey delighted in the simple joys of life — playing 45’s, Crokinole, and crib, where her playful spirit shone in every skunked opponent. Her dill pickles were legendary, carefully aged until December, a testament to her patience and craft. Music filled her heart, from singing with the Paradise, West Paradise Choir to filling her home on weekends with the gentle melodies of the pump organ, surrounded by family and friends. Her laughter, her songs, and her warmth will be remembered always.

Audrey is survived by her children, Lewis (Alma) Bent, Carleton Corner, Cathy (Steve) Walker, West Paradise, Crystal (David) Bishop West Paradise and Clay (Heather) Bent West Paradise; 9 Grandchildren; 15 Great grandchildren and 7 great great-grandchildren. Audrey is also survived by her sister Iva (Roland), Clayton, Parker’s Cove and sister-in-law Kathleen Clayton, Bridgetown as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Audrey was predeceased by her husband Cleveland Bent, grandson Ryan Bent. Brothers Floyd Clayton, Lloyd Clayton, and sister June Hudson.

The family would like to thank the staff at VON for their incredible compassion and care over the years as well as the staff at the Annapolis Royal Nursing home where she spent her final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the West Paradise Evergreen Chapel on Monday August 25, 2025, at 2:00pm with Rev. Herb Anderson officiating.
