Obituary of Anthony Hurn
Anthony (Tony) Hurn, age 90, of Kentville, passed away peacefully August 25, 2025, in the Evergreen Home for Special Care. Born in 1934 in Downham, UK to Edna Hurn. Tony came to Canada in 1956, eventually obtaining Canadian citizenship. He met his soul mate Isabel whom he was married to for 53 years, separated only by her passing in 2020.
Tony was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors. He took great pride in his meticulously kept lawn and garden and could often be seen either working in his yard alongside Isabel or strolling through the neighborhood. He and Isabel both enjoyed being out in nature and were often found watching the birds at their many feeders, or visiting the local "duck pond" as Tony called it.
Although there is sadness in Tony's passing, he missed Isabel terribly and there is comfort in knowing they are again reunited.
Tony is survived by his niece Valerie Locke and her husband Chris, of England.
A special thank you to Tony's care givers since Isabel's passing, neighbors Kim Whynot and Barbara Simmons, Natasha and her staff at N&S Hearts to Homecare for the extra support for Tony over the last few months, and of course the staff at Evergreen Home for Special Care where Tony has resided for the last 5 years.
In keeping with Tony's wishes, cremation has taken place under the compassionate care of Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9. Memorial donations in Tony's memory may be made to Covenant House or a charity of choice.
