Obituary of Bruce Gregory Theriault
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bruce Gregory Theriault, 65 of East Ferry on August 29, 2025, in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in East Ferry on February 14, 1960, Bruce was the son of the late, Harold and Christina (Stanton) Theriault.
Born and raised in the quiet beauty of East Ferry, Bruce’s roots ran as deep as the tides that shaped the shore. He cared for his growing land with a pride that was plain to see, and in the hearts of many he was lovingly known as the “Mayor of East Ferry.” The sea was his lifelong companion, its rhythm guiding him through years as a devoted lobster fisherman. And in kitchens warmed by his laughter, friends and family gathered to savor his famous lobster chowder — made rich not just by a secret ingredient, but by the love he stirred into every pot.
Bruce’s heart was never without company — his two loyal labs, Brian and Zeb, were his shadows and greatest joy. To his friends and family, he was a steady hand and a generous soul, always ready to help in ways both big and small. Music often carried through his days, with the voices of Chris Stapleton and Adele holding a special place in his heart, their songs becoming part of the soundtrack of his life.
A man of grit, heart and loyalty, Bruce was Theriault Strong, Stanton Stubborn. He truly left a mark on everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
Bruce is survived by his son, Jeremy Theriault; daughter, Mallori Theriault; brother, Junior Theriault; as well as his sisters, Ellie Gidney, Laurana Tucker, Jackie Brown, Becky Hall and Esther Dunn.
In addition to his parents, Bruce was predeceased by his sisters, Judy Lewis and Lorna Mullen.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday September 3, 2025, at 1:00pm in the East Ferry Cemetery with an interment to follow. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Conway, NS B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
