76, of Kentville, passed away peacefully in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville on Sunday September 30, 2007. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Helena and Joseph Underwood. She was a graduate of the Sacred Heart Convent and Halifax Infirmary School of X-Ray Technology and worked at the Halifax Infirmary until her marriage to Victor Joseph Cleyle. Jean's entire life was devoted to her family. She also enjoyed reading, bridge, travel, her cottage and was generous to many charities. After the death of her husband, she managed the family businesses including Peter Cleyle Limited. Jean is survived by her four children, Joanne Craig, Dartmouth, Linda, Halifax, Peter (Gail Martin) Fort McMurray, AB, and Susan (Don Duffie) St. John's, NL; cousin, Sister Marguerite Hagarty, Halifax; grandchildren, Victoria and Lindsay Craig, Jenna and Jacob Cleyle, Anthony Martin, Thea, Maren and Carys Duffie. Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband, Victor; step-mother, Marion Underwood; her aunt and uncle, Rita and Thomas Hagarty. Visitation for Mrs. Cleyle will be held from 4-7 pm Wednesday, October 3 in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home 5 Leverett Ave., Kentville (902-678-2151). A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 4 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Kentville, Father Gerald Saulnier. A private family burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family flowers only please, however, donations in memory may be made to the Chrysalis House, 30 Church Ave., Kentville, N.S. B4N 3X1.
