85, New Minas, formerly of Lockhartville, passed away Tuesday September 18, 2007 peacefully and surrounded by family in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born August 4, 1922 in Grand Pre, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Cora (Burgher) West. She was a graduate of Mack Business college. She was employed by the Royal Bank in Middleton and later was secretary for L.E. Shaw Elementary school in Avonport for many years. Together with her late husband, Glenn, she raised her family in Lockhartville and lived there for most of her life. She was an active member of her comminity, serving as treasurer of Lockhartville United Baptist Church, as a Sunday school teacher and organizing the new Horizons Senior Citizens group. She was an accomplished artist and loved dancing with Glenn and attending social functions. Evangeline is survived by sons, Darrell (Paulette), Orillia, Ont., Garnet (Gertie) New Minas, Christopher (Cheryl) Riverview NB.; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Gerald (Mildred) Grand Pre; twin sister, Madeline (James Doig) Wolfville; sisters, Eva (Charles Sumara) Wolfville, Myrna (Ronald Conrad) Kentville; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Evangeline was predeceased by her husband Glenn; brother, Asahel; sister, Della. Visitation for Mrs. Tracey will be held from 7-9 pm Thursday September 20 in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home 568 Main St., Wolfville (902-542-2151) A funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday September 21 in Lockhartville United Baptist Church with the Reverend Gail Whalen-Dunn officiating. Burial will take place in Lower Horton Cemetery, Grand Pre. Family flowers only please, however donations in memory may be made to the Lockhartville United Baptist Church or to the Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia.
