Harvey, Raymond Alfred, 82, of Nictaux, Annapolis County, formerly of LaHave, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 in Soldier??s Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Ellershouse, Hants County, he was a son of the late James and Ethel (Dinsmore) Harvey. In his early years he worked in Hants & Queens Counties in the logging industry and later trained as a meat cutter while in the service from 1943 to 1946. He was employed by Bridgewater IGA for over 20 years. In 1991 he retired and moved to Nictaux after selling the home in LaHave He enjoyed his life to the fullest and was a devoted husband and father .He was a talented musician and music played an important role in his life. Ray??s fiddle music has been heard all over the Annapolis Valley. After moving to Nictaux, he became a very active member of Middleton Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, trustee, choir member and a member of a men??s prayer group. Ray played his fiddle regularly for church services and special events. He belonged to a group, "Old Country", which was known for it??s country gospel music. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by sons: Brian (Marg), Nictaux; Larry (Gale), Melbourne, Ont.; Paul (Heather), Bridgewater; four grandchildren: Angela, Tanya (Derek), Julie (Jiah), Donnie ; six great grandchildren: Caitlin, Jordan, Connor, Owen, Gavin and Josiah. He was predeceased by his wife Annetta, brothers: Robert, Arnold, Murray and sisters: Gladys, Alice, Aileen and Celia. There will be no visitation by request. A celebration of Raymond??s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 6,2007 in the Middleton Baptist Church followed by a reception in the Family Life Center of the church. Pastor Danny Smith officiating. Interment will be 4:00 p.m. at Fort Point Cemetery, LaHave. Family flowers only please. Donations in his memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Soldier??s Memorial Hospital, Canadian Cancer Society, Fort Point Cemetery or a charity of choice.
