Obituary of Thelma May Bacon

Please share a memory of Thelma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness the family of Thelma Bacon, announce the sudden passing on April 5, 2017, a day after her 88th birthday. Born in North Range, she was the daughter of the late George and Mildred (Thibault) White. Thelma was proud to be the mother of her two adopted children. Her husband, Leslie, of 56 years, died in 2002 and their son, Barry in 2010. She is survived by her daughter Brenda Hannam, who for four years was her mother's stay-at-home care giver; brother Stanley (Lucille) White of North Range; granddaughter Heather (Ian) Browne of Calgary; great grandson one year old Weston, Nana's pride and joy; special family friend Cleve Langdale; five nieces and nephews. Thelma was well known for her baking, especially her Coconut Cream Pie. She was a past member of Zelma Rebekah Lodge 78, Busy Bee Craft Club, the Bayside New Horizons Club and a lifetime member of the Digby East Fish and Game. At 88, Thelma was still an active member of the Women's Missionary Society and the oldest living member of the North Range Baptist Church, Digby Co. She had a way that made everyone who met her feel special – a kind and loving smile that she brought to the workplace, a church brakfast or community event – an ear to listen to what was important in you life. Short in stature but big in spirit. A hard working woman giving a helping hand to where she was needed. Many will remember her parent's store "White's Grocery" in North Range, the "hub" of the community for more than thirty years. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday April 13, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the North Range United Baptist Church with Diane Axent, Funeral Celebrant officiating. A reception will follow in the North Range Hall, catered by The Willing Workers of St. Mary's Bay Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be made to the NS Heart & Stroke Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (902-679-2822).
