Obituary of Bertha Jane Atwell

Bertha Jane Atwell (Brewster), age 106, of Kentville, passed away peacefully in Orchard Court Shannex, Kentville, on Februay 23, 2023. Born in Baxter’s Harbour on January 22, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Eva Brewster.

Bertha raised eight wonderful children in Dartmouth with her first husband, Sidney Owen Hazel.

Bertha is lovingly remembered by sons, Vincent (Anne) Hazel, Dominion, Myles (Marion) Hazel, Berwick, and Larry (Jane) Hazel, New Minas; daughter, Sandra (Merle) Daniels, Woodville; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren; brother, Franklyn Brewster; and sister, Phyllis (Howard) Hawley.

In addition to her parents and first husband, Bertha was predeceased by sons, Arnold Hazel, Halifax, Owen (Janine) Hazel, Sackville, Wayne Hazel, Sheldon (Mona) Hazel, Kentville; brothers and sisters, Neta Brewster, Yvonne Brewster, Vera (Hughie) Winter, Thelma (Bernard) Ward, Emily (Arnold) Silver, Elmer (Clara) Brewster, and Osborne (Cathy) Brewster.

A Visitation will take place on March 1, 2023 from 1:00 pm  to 2:00  pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm in the Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, Coldbrook. Family Flowers only.
