Obituary of Michael Harry Cohoon

Michael Harry Cohoon, age 77, of Coldbrook, passed away on September 23, 2023, in Kentville, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on May 25, 1946, he was the son of the late Harry and Frances (Hennigar) Cohoon.

Michael was born and raised in Rockland before moving to Berwick in his teens. He attended the NS Institute of Technology where he took refrigeration. Before retiring in 1997, he and Helen owned and operated Acadia Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Ltd for 27 years. They then built a new house and lived off-the-grid for the next 20 years.

Michael loved being with family and friends, especially at South River Lake. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, hunting, gardening, and working in the woods. He loved to create and build everything out of anything; wood, metal, electronic, or automotive he understood how everything worked. He was patient and a great teacher to anyone who was interested in learning.

Michael is survived by his wife, Helen (Adams); daughter, Tina (Mike) Lutz, Harbourville; son, Mark Cohoon (Robin Smith), Coldbrook; dearly loved grandchildren, Nick (Autumn Phillips) Lutz, Berwick; Morgan Lutz, Kentville; and Spencer Cohoon, Kentville; two great-grandchildren, Lacey and Ethan Lutz; sisters, Wanda Williams, Shubenacadie; and Patricia Walsh, Alberta; as well as nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Blair Williams and Patrick Walsh.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life and interment will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Valley Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
