Obituary of Gary Nelson Foote Jr.

Please share a memory of Gary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gary Nelson Foote Jr. of Weymouth. Gary was born March 6, 1969, the son of Gary and Anne (Jacquard) Foote and grew up in Plympton Station next to the lake that forever remained close to his heart. Throughout his life Gary had many who he bonded with whether they were related by birth or welcomed him into their life. We are sure that those people know how important they were to Gary and can be sure he always appreciated them and thought well of them.

Gary was well known around the community as a scallop fisherman, clam digger, hunter, fisherman, and as someone who enjoyed a good time with his many friends.
Gary enjoyed life his own way, perhaps not always the way others would see it. His independence was often admired by those who understood, if some didn’t get it that was ok too. With a shrug of his shoulders and a grin he carried on as he felt he should. His sense of humour was never in doubt, Gary enjoyed a good joke or story, and was always ready to be part of a new adventure; some tales of which will circulate for many years. Good times make for good memories and sometimes great memories are made when things don’t go quite as planned. That never stopped him from trying again. Many people are going to find he is not easy to forget. The Facebook community is going to miss his spectacular photos of sunrises and sunsets on the Bay of Fundy.

Gary is survived by his father, Gary Sr.; his companion of 16 years, Yvette Comeau; his half-sister Heather Deveau, of Abbotsford, BC; his nephew, Jesse; and nieces, Carly and Emily.

Gary was predeceased by his mother, Anne; his paternal grandparents, George and Marion Foote; his maternal grandparents, George and Dora Jacquard; and his sister, Crystal whom he stood by devotedly during her illness.

In accordance with Gary’s wishes there will be no public funeral but the family will gather privately for a celebration of his life. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, NS B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
