Obituary of Jeanette Little-Gallian

Please share a memory of Jeanette to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jeanette Little-Gallian, 83 of Berwick, passed away on February 5, 2024, in the Valley Regional Hospital. Born in Berwick, she was the daughter of the late Malcom and Ethel (Hamilton) Little.

Jeanette was well known for her passionate “never give up” pursuit for equality for disabled people in Canada. She was a member of various organizations  for over a 50 year span sharing all she knew and encouraging many to get involved.

Jeanette’s dedication to her daughter, Brenda, was commendable. She never gave up striving for a better life for our Brenda Gail.

“She stood for those who could not, she spoke for those with no voice,
and she wrote for those who could not hold a pen; Jeanette was a force!”

Jeanette loved her family, she was so proud of everyone of them. Oh, how she enjoyed watching the grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in activities such as baseball, curling, hockey, and ringette. She has sat in many a cold arena, and been eaten by ferocious mosquitoes on a warm summer night, just to cheer on the kids.

Jeanette had a keen interest in geneology. She spent many hours researching her family background and finding strong connections in Nova Scotia’s history. The Littles, Brydons, and Hamiltons are just a few valley names that Jenette has journalled and recorded.

Jeanette was an artist, she enjoyed painting scenic pieces from various places she had visited. She shared her pieces with those she cared about. There are many people near and far that have one of her paintings.

“Jeanette will be missed dearly by all who loved her. She will be remembered by all. Good by dear soul, our memories of you will be with us always.”

Jeanette  is survived by her children, Rae (Marg) Seaton, Shelley (Claude) LeBlanc, and Brenda  Seaton; step-daughter, Dawn (Mike) Basso; grandchildren, Ashley (Chris) Lockhart, Andrew (Lisa) Willsey, Jesse (Falyn) Seaton; step-grandchildren, Jenna-Anne (Ronnie) Webster, Amiee (Brendon) Fogarty; great-grandchildren, Elex Lockhart, Emery Lockhart, Makayla Willsey, Owen Willsey, Nash Willsey, Amilia Seaton, and Scarlot Seaton; step-great-grandchildren, Emmitt Webster, Easton Webster and Grace Fogarty; and siblings, Lawrence (Rita) Little and Kenneth (Jenny) Little.

In addition to her parents, Jeanette was predeceased by her husband, Harry Gallian; and her sister, Moneta Little-Spencer.

Cremation has taken place and in keeping with Jeanette’s wishes, there will be no service.  Memorial donations may be made to Inclusion Nova Scotia, Diability Rights Coalition, The Flower Cart, or Open Arms (902-365-3665).  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
