91, passed away December 12,2008, at Wolfville Nursing Home, Main Street, Wolfville. Born February 15,1917, in Surette Island, Yarmouth County she was the only child of the late Peter & Mary Jane Surette. May married her first husband Robert Sewards in Yarmouth and then moved to Kentville where Robert worked with the CN Family of Hotels - The Cornwallis Inn until the time of his death. Together they had seven children. Surviving children are Joan Chase, New Minas, Joseph, New Minas, Gregory (Shannon) South Alton, Regina (Richard) Lomond, Coldbrook; Alan (Julie) New Minas and Janice (Douglas) Osborne, Upper Dyke. She has 26 grandchildren, 38 Great-Grandchildren and six Great-Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughters in law Lorraine Sewards, Kentville and Peggy Sewards, New Minas and Charlies two daughters Vivian Turner and Joyce (Harmon) Illsley. Special friends Richard, Marilyn & David Perkins, Avonport. She is predeceased by her first husband Robert Sewards, second husband Charles Barker, two sons Robert and Daniel and former sons- in-law Robert Burry and Wayne Chase. She worked retail all her life in the Kentville area with the Red Store, Stedmans, Metropolian and Peoples May was a member of the St. Eulalie Rebekah Lodge # 27, Kentville, past Nobel Grands Club, a charter member of the Order of Canton Cornwallis Auxilliary LAPM, a former member of the Halifax Auxlliary, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 6, Kentville for 40+ years. Family flowers only, donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society & Valley Regional Hospital Foundation. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Monday December 15 with a Royal Canadian Legion Service at 7 p.m., a Rebekah Lodge Service at 7:30 p.m. and Prayers at 8 p.m. in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 5 Leverett Ave, Kentville (902-678-2151). A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am Tuesday December 16 in St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville.
