78, Berwick, Kings Co., formerly of Westville, Pictou Co., passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 12, 2009, in the Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born at home in Westville, she was a daughter of the late George and Martha (Lawrence) Bigney. Esther had been a member of the L.O.B.A., Orange Lodge in New Glasgow and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kentville. Surviving are her daughters, Bonnie Bigney, Wolfville; Lori (Eldred) Fraser, Berwick; son, Hugh (Tara) Benjamin, Wolfville; grandchildren, Michael (Rose Spencer) Bigney; Crystal (Brian Wagner) Bigney; Mark (Tasha Glanville) Zugay; Chelsea and Jeremy Fraser; Zack Benjamin; sister, Pearl Jackson, New Glasgow; special adopted sister, Ruth Cavanagh, Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Martin "Luther", Leemon, Calvin "Alec", Edward and Wilfred "Murray" Bigney; sisters, Ethel Forti; Muriel Purvis; Isabel Bigney. Visitation for Esther will take place 7-9 p.m., Friday in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Funeral service will take place 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 18, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 440 Belcher Street, Kentville. President Charles Spinney officiating, with burial in the Berwick Cemetery, Main Street, Berwick. Donations in her memory may be made to the Parkinson Foundation of Canada, Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
