93, Waterville, Kings County, passed away peacefully in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, on March 25, 2008. She was born March 5, 1915, in Ellerslie, P.E.I. Ferne had worked at R.T. Holman, Summerside, prior to her marriage in 1943. Ferne was a life-long and devoted member of the United Church of Canada. For many years she was on the session & sang in the choir of St Andrew's United Church, Waterville (later becoming Trinity United). Ferne was a life member of the United Church Women and was an active in the Catherine Phinney Unit, Waterville. She was active in the work of Valley Presbytery & Valley Presbyterial. Her passion was music and although she played the piano from an early age, a church organ would always be a source of inspiration for her. She was an active and committed volunteer in her community and was president of the Home and School Association when Waterville still had its school. In more recent years she sat on the board of the Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband and life-long companion, Claude M. Cook, Waterville; daughter, Connie Wright and spouse, James Wright, Toronto, Ont.; son, Charles Cook and spouse, Marilyn Mullett, Stillwater Lake; granddaughter, Erin Wright and spouse, Tim Ross, great granddaughter, Isabella Ross and great grandson, Leo Ross, Dubai, United Arab Emirates; grandson, Tim Wright and spouse, Tiffany Ring and great grandson, Aidyn Wright, London, U.K. Also surviving are sister, Edith Caseley (Dystant) and niece, Janice Bannister (Caseley), Moncton N.B.; sister-in-law, Margaret Brydon (Cook), niece, Sheila Stewart Blair, Victoria B.C.; and nephew, Darrel Brydon Vancouver B.C. Ferne was predeceased by her parents, Lewis and Millie Dystant, and a sister, Ethel. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A celebration of Ferne's life will be held in Trinity United Church, 1209 Maple Street, Waterville at 2 p.m. Saturday June 28. Rev. Ray A. Francis officiating, with a reception to follow at the church vestry. Burial in the Berwick Cemetery. Donations in Ferne's memory can be made to Trinity United Church, Waterville (P.O.
