95, Berwick, Kings County, formerly of Rannoch Road, Dartmouth. It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth S. " Beth" Burke, announce her passing on Sunday, August 30, 2009, at home. Born in Launching Place, Prince Edward Island, on September 12, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary (MacLean) MacPherson. Beth was the loving wife of the late Earl R. Burke, and was also predeceased by brother, Joseph MacPherson; sisters, Frances Batten; Florence Fay; Madeline Arseneault; son-in-law, Jack Mooy. She is survived by sisters, Margaret "Peg" Campbell, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; Pauline Ivany, Malden, Massachusetts; children, Walter (Maria) Burke; Carol Mooy (Frank Woodworth), all of Berwick; Desmond (Debbie) Burke, Gatineau, Quebec; grandchildren, Laura (Reagh) MacIntosh; Janet (Marc) Slivocka; Monica Burke (Paul Frederiksen); Neil Mooy (Amanda Cleveland); Ingrid Mooy; Sara and David Burke; Jackie Woodworth (Kevin Smith); Nancy (Bob) Gauthier; Frank (Tina) Woodworth; great-grandchildren, Duncan and Hannah MacIntosh; Natasha and Gregory Slivocka; Nicole, Misty and Drake Frederiksen; Keegan and Christina Smith; Grace, Genevieve and Gabriella Gauthier; Nick, Mitchell and Haley Woodworth. Beth graduated from Falconwood School of Nursing in 1934 and retired from the Halifax County Rehabilitation Centre after 25 years of dedicated service. God bestowed a passion for nursing to Beth which she used to care for the mentally disabled with compassion and love. This kind of commitment took a very extraordinary and dedicated person. Visitation for Beth will take place 7-9 p.m., Thursday, with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m., both in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St, Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 4, in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 120 Mill St., Berwick. Rev. Fr. Sean Cahill officiating, with a reception to follow in the parish centre. Committal Service followed by burial will take place 3 p.m. on Sunday in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Hunter River, P.E.I., Rev. Fr. Floyd Gallant officiating.
