67, Berwick, Kings Co., passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on December 8, 1942, in Medford, he was a son of the late Chester and Evelyn (Barkhouse) Carver. Joe loved his "mummy". He had a passion for sports and in particular the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He travelled on a few occasions to watch games in Toronto. Joe spent many days and hours watching hockey in the cold arena in Berwick and during the summer watching baseball in the Berwick field. Joe is survived by his sisters, Barbara (Ron) West, Steam Mill; Margaret (Kees) Vandyke, Canning; Jeanee "Jean" Morawski, New Minas; Sharon (Everett) Dixon, Centreville; Elaine (Nelson) Lutz, Habitant; Wanda (Keith) Roland, Hamilton, Ont.; Nancy, Upper Canard; brothers, Douglas (Mary), Dartmouth; Chester "Ches" (Dorothy), Winnipeg, Man.; Paul (Jeannette), Dartmouth; David (Maryann), Kentville; Timothy, Cambridge; Ont.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe adored his Aunt Rita. Joe is also survived by his family at New Visions home who loved him dearly including Pauline, Everett and Mervin "Murphy". Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by sisters, Darlene and Debbie and brother, Dale. Joe's family would like to thank the staff of New Visions Home for Special Care as well as the staff on Medical A and B Units of Valley Regional Hospital and Dr. Bustin and Dr. Jiwani for their care of Joseph. Visitation for Joe will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 5 Leverett Ave., Kentville, N.S., B4N 2K5, (902-678-2151), where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, November 26, with Major and Mrs. Russ Grandy and Chaplain Jim Norton officiating. Burial will be in Habitant Cemetery. Donations in Joseph's memory may be made to the Berwick Apple Dome or to the charity of choice.
