Obituary of Madeline Doig

85, Wolfville, formerly of Lawrencetown, Annapolis County, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born at Grand Pré on August 4, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Cora (Burgher) West. After high school in Hantsport, Madeline attended Mack Business College in Kentville where she acquired stenographic and accounting skills. Following graduation in 1942 she was employed at MacKenzie's Creamery in Windsor, then at the Royal Bank, at Vance Comeau's Ford dealership , and at the Federal Department of Agriculture in Middleton. Madeline was an accomplished artist in both watercolour and oil. She was an enthusiastic bridge player who enjoyed its social interactions every bit as much as the intricacies of bidding and play. She loved to entertain and spend time with her family and friends. While she lived in Lawrencetown, she was active in the United Baptist Church there and served as its treasurer for sixteen years; later she acted in the same capacity for ten years for the Mabel Merrick Missionary Society at Wolfville United Baptist Church.
