Obituary of Catherine Fowlie

89, of Kentville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 10, 2008, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Granton, Pictou Co., she was the daughter of the late Alex and Catherine (Lamey) Walker. Mrs. Fowlie was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, where she devoted much of her time to volunteering for the Christian Concern Committee for 35 years, teaching Sunday school, the Valley Cursillo Movement and was a lifetime member of the Catholic Women's League (C.W.L.). She will be forever loved and greatly missed by her many family and friends. She is survived by son Ray, Kentville; daughter, Jamie Fowlie (Rick); brother, Joe Walker, Truro; grandchildren, Ryan, Sarah, Erin, and Evan, great-grandson, Cameron Eric and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Gerry was predeceased by her husband, Eric Fowlie; brother, Ted Walker; sisters, Mary Jane Shaw and Sadie Angus. Visitation for Mrs. Fowlie will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, with prayers at 8 p.m. in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 5 Leverett Ave., Kentville (902-678-2151). A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville. Rev. Father Craig Christenson officiating. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Donations in Gerry's memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
