Of Ottawa, Ont., formerly of Wentworth, N.S. passed away peacefully on Friday October 19, 2007 in the Ottawa Heart Institute, in his 87th year. He was the beloved husband of the late Redenta. Whylie is survived by his sons, Jim (Erlla), Bill (Carlotta), David (Anne), all of Ottawa; son Vernon (April), N.S.; daughter, Dianne, Cape Breton, N.S.; brother Percy, sisters, Polly Slaunwhite and Sadie Feltham; Whylie will be sadly missed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Whylie was predeceased by his brothers, Charlie, Murray and Robbie; sisters, Ruby, Marion and Harriet. Whylie was a veteran and an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Visitation for Mr. Leighton will be held from 7-9 pm Wednesday October 24 in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home 5 Leverett Ave., Kentville (902-678-2151) where a funeral service will be held at 1 pm Thursday October 25 with the Rev. Robert Billings officiating. Burial will take place in Habitant Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Kelly's Funeral Home, Ottawa Ontario at 7 pm Thursday November 8, 2007.
