93, Avonport, passed away Monday September 3, 2007 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Hortonville, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Mary (Rathburn) MacIntosh. Nellie will be sadly missed by her many family and friends. She is fondly remembered as being a caring foster mother for over 45 years to over 100 children. Nellie loved gardening and bird watching. She was a lifetime active member of the Avonport Baptist Church being involved in the choir, ladies auxiliary and the decorating committee. Nellie was well known for her beautiful Christmas displays at her home that many looked forward to seeing each year. She is survived by her sons, Jack (Regina), Avonport; Neil (Sharon), Hantsport; Donnie (Glenda), Lockhartville; Jimmie (Linda), Avonport; daughters, Kathy (Jack) Hayward, Bridgewater; Beth (Murray) Corbin, Avonport; beloved foster children, Shirley Principi, David Butler; brother, Harry MacIntosh; brothers-in-law, Harris Hartlin, Earl Lockhart; sister-in-law, Violet MacIntosh; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Nellie was predeceased by childhood sweetheart, her husband of 58 years, Murray Lockhart; brothers, Stewart, Donald, Stephen (In Infancy) MacIntosh; sisters, Mary Hartlin, Eva Urban, Bessie Pulsifer; granddaughters, Andrea and Jacqueline. Visitation for Mrs. Lockhart will be held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday September 5 in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home 568 Main Street, Wolfville (902-542-2151) A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday September 6 in the Avonport Baptist Church with Pastor Gail Whalen-Dunn officiating with a reception to follow. Burial will take place in Lower Horton Cemetery, Grand Pre. Family flowers only please however donations in Nellie's memory may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or to the Avonport Baptist Church Maintenance Fund.
