81, Aylesford, Kings Co. passed away Saturday May 10, 2008, in the Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Morristown, Kings Co. he was a son of the late Charles "Charlie" and Lucy (Uhlman) Hodges. Ron moved from Morristown to Aylesford in 1945 and operated a mixed farm with his father and brother and had opened graves in the Aylesford & Morristown area most of his life. Ron had worked at the Aylesford Fruit Company and also owned and operated Ron's Variety Store in Aylesford from 1964-1977. After that he worked at the Berwick Bakery and at James Lamb's Farm. He was a member of the Aylesford Baptist Church, where he was a former Deacon and Sunday School Treasurer for 50 years. Ron was a Life Member of the Aylesford & District Lions Club and was a Past President, Past Zone Chairman and Past Deputy District Governor. He was former board member for Victorian Order of Nurses (Kings Branch) and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (Kings County). Surviving are son, Brian (Debbie) Hodges, Aylesford; grandchildren, David (Rana) Hodges, Edmonton, Alta.; Candis (Eric) Diaz, Red Deer Alta.; Kevin (Andrea) Hodges & Wesley Hodges, all of Aylesford; Jesse Hodges, Edmonton, Alta.; great grandchildren, Hailey, Desiree & Ocean; brother, Lawrence (Altee) Hodges, Aylesford East; sister, Jessie (Hardy) Lutz, South Berwick; several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Joyce (Foster) Hodges; brother Howard Hodges in infancy. Visitation will take place 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday May 14, in the Morristown United Baptist Church, 6557 Aylesford Rd., Morristown. Rev. Douglas Porter officiating, with burial in the Aylesford Union Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Grand View Manor or the Morristown United Baptist Church.
